The UK/India co-production „Jungle Cry“ presented the official film trailer and the poster during the Cannes Film Festival. Director Sagar Ballary, actors Emily Shah, Atul Kumar, Stewart Wright and Julian Lewis Jones as well as producer Prashant Shah presented the official trailer and poster at several distinctive events during the 72nd Festival de Cannes.
Recently the actors, director and producers of the film were invited to a special presentation with Lord Addington at the House of Lords in London.
„Jungle Cry“ is a wonderful film based on the life of rugby trainer Rudraksh Jena and inspired by a true story: the life of 12 underprivileged children from the Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS) in Orissa – and their triumphant journey to the International Junior Rugby Tournament held in London in 2007. With no previous knowledge, but hard work and determination, these children learned to play rugby in just four months and managed to win the 2007 Junior World Cup in the UK.
Directed by Sagar Ballary, Indian film director, the film was produced with Bollywood Hollywood Production, producers Prashant Shah and Jaswant Singh and Associate Producer Shabbir Boxwala. Jungle Cry also features some of the top names in the sport, including the world famous rugby referee Nigel Owens and Collin Charvis, former captain of the Wales National Rugby Union Team. The film’s tournament scenes were shot at the legendary Parc y Scarlets Stadium in Wales.
„It’s the story of outsiders,“ says Abhay Deol, who plays the role of Rudraksh Jena in the film. For him, Jungle Cry is an example of how sports can open doors for people.
Actress Emily Shah explained that she was very excited and nervous because it was her first film. „The story of the film is so unique and important and I am proud to present this film to our audience.“
Prashant Shah, former vice president and production director of Hollywood-based Benaroya Pictures, has contributed to the production of some of Hollywood’s best-known images, including ‚Queen of the Desert‘ with Nicole Kidman and ‚Cell‘ with Samuel L Jackson. His latest film „ZERO“ with Bollywood sensation Shahrukh Khan was released on December 21.
„I’ve worked on every genre of movies, romantic comedies, futuristic big action adventures and thrillers for several production houses in India and Hollywood. When the time came for me to start my own content company, produce films related to my company name – Bollywood and Hollywood – I always wanted to make this debut an inspiring story for the whole family.
Jungle Cry’s original soundtrack and music are distributed worldwide by Sony Music. Brand partnerships with adidas and Société Générale, both long-time supporters of the sport, were also recently announced.
Jungle Cry will be shown in Tokyo, Japan, at the 2019 Rugby World Cup and will be released in India this summer.
