Nicole Muj is the founder of Kultura PR International, a public relations company that specializes in international entertainment, lifestyle and cultural clients. Every year she organises successful events such as the French Riviera Film Festival (FRFF), which took place in Cannes for the first time this year.
Dear Nicole, what was for you in 2019 the most interesting or touching event on a professional level…?
There were so many incredible “career” moments this year. My business partner Gotham Chandna and I absolutely loved our clients this year, handling PR and marketing for such important documentary films as the Estonian/Latvian Oscar contender Immortal and Italy’s Tomorrow and The Butterfly by luxury beauty brand Davines, spotlighting such issues as sustainability, human trafficking and women’s rights, to working on the Moonshots/First Woman Novus Summit at the United Nations, and of course, launching the first annual French Riviera Film Festival. We were honored to have such wonderful submissions in our first year, including the Berlinale short film winner Tattoo, and also having an out-of-competition screening of the Oscar winner SKIN.
….. and which private?
2019 marked my husband Ion and my 12th anniversary. Next year will be the 13th, my lucky number (truly). We hope to plan some nice trips in 2020.
What wishes and plans do you have for 2020?
On a personal note, as I mentioned, we hope to plan to travel this year to Hawaii, where we spent our honeymoon, and hopefully, New Orleans. Professionally, I hope to attend the Oscars, and actually have a reason for attending. (That would be a big “check” on my bucket list.)
Is there something you are particularly looking forward to?
The second annual French Riviera Film Festival scheduled for May 2020, and also the first annual Reel Rosé Film Festival, set to launch during LA Fashion Week in September 2020. The new festival will celebrate the rosé lifestyle, and short-form fashion and lifestyle content.
Work-Life-Balance has been a topic for years: How do you balance work and private life?
To be honest, 2019 was very busy, and it was difficult to balance my work life with my private life.
What does Christmas mean to you?
Christmas is very special to me. I was raised in a German/Austrian household and I remember celebrating the special traditions, such as St. Nicholas Day (my name day) putting my shoes in front of my door to hopefully receive chocolates, celebrating on Christmas Eve instead of Christmas Day, and advent calendars. I usually celebrate an early pre-Christmas with my sister, who lives in Canada. Tomorrow, we will visit the Vancouver Christmas Market. I must admit though that holiday season is no longer the same without our parents.
How will you spend Christmas?
My wonderful sister-in-law Maria will be spending Christmas with my husband Ion and me in Los Angeles. We will most likely just spend some quality time together and do some short trips around the area, visiting Santa Barbara, Palm Springs, and Las Vegas.
