Das French Riviera Film Festival (FRFF) kehrt vom 15. bis 16. Mai 2026 mit seiner achten Ausgabe zurück und präsentiert eine herausragende Auswahl an Kurzfilm-Finalisten, die die Kunstfertigkeit und Innovationskraft des globalen Kurzfilm-Storytelling verkörpern. Die Bekanntgabe erfolgte durch die Mitbegründerin des Festivals, Nicole Goesseringer Muj, und die ausführende Produzentin Kate Elfatah.

Seit seiner Gründung im Jahr 2019 hat sich das FRFF einen Ruf als führendes Boutique-Festival erarbeitet, das sich der Förderung von Kurzform-Inhalten aus den Bereichen Film, Fernsehen, Internet und neuen digitalen Plattformen verschrieben hat. Vor der ikonischen Kulisse von Cannes bietet das exklusive zweitägige Programm ein sorgfältig zusammengestelltes Erlebnis mit Filmvorführungen, dem mit Spannung erwarteten „Global Entertainment Showcase“, privaten VIP-Empfängen und einer eleganten Abschlussgala mit Preisverleihung.

„Jede Ausgabe des French Riviera Film Festivals baut seine Präsenz auf der globalen Bühne weiter aus“, sagt Muj. „Die diesjährige Auswahl spiegelt auf wunderbare Weise die Schnittstelle zwischen Kunstfertigkeit und Innovation wider, und wir sind stolz darauf, diese außergewöhnlichen Stimmen in Cannes präsentieren zu dürfen.“

Die Finalisten und Filme mit besonderer Erwähnung des Jahres 2026 werden in einer Vielzahl von Kategorien ausgezeichnet, darunter KI (Künstliche Intelligenz), Mikro-Kurzfilm, Studentenfilm, Animation, Sci-Fi/Horror, Komödie, Dokumentarfilm, Musikvideo, Mode, Experimentalfilm, Werbefilm, Drama und Drehbuch.

„Die diesjährigen Finalisten spiegeln einen ausgefeilten und weltweit resonanten Ansatz des Geschichtenerzählens wider. Es ist ein Privileg, solch fesselnde Werke in Cannes zu präsentieren, wo das Kino auf höchstem Niveau gefeiert wird“, fügt Elfatah hinzu.

Bei der offiziellen Eröffnungsfeier und der abschließenden Preisverleihung werden außerdem die Preise für den besten Regisseur, den besten Schauspieler, die beste Schauspielerin, den „One to Watch“-Preis und den „Industry Excellence“-Preis verliehen. Zu den Besuchern und Teilnehmern des FRFF-Festivals zählen Filmemacher, Führungskräfte der Branche, Prominente, Medienvertreter und Influencer.

Der Eintritt zu den Festivalvorführungen ist frei. Sie finden an zwei Tagen live statt: am 15. Mai von 10 bis 15 Uhr und am 16. Mai von 9 bis 15 Uhr im Eden Hotel & Spa (133 rue d’Antibes). Im Anschluss an die Vorführungen jedes Tages sind in der Bel-Air Fine Art Gallery und im Eden Hotel & Spa spezielle Empfänge sowie Preisverleihungen geplant, zu denen nur geladene Gäste Zutritt haben.

Die Finalistenfilme und Filme mit besonderer Erwähnung des FRFF werden ab dem 15. und 16. Mai auch online auf der eoFlix-Plattform von Entertainment Oxygen zu sehen sein.
